Do I need any experience to start?
Not at all. I teach complete beginners through to more advanced students, and lessons are tailored to whatever level you’re at.
Do I need expensive equipment?
No. A laptop, a pair of headphones and free or basic software is enough to get started. We can talk through what’s actually worth investing in later, once you know what direction you’re heading in.
Do you teach online, in person, or both?
Both. I teach in person from my home studio in Bristol, and online for students anywhere else. Lessons work just as well either way.
What software do you teach?
I’m not limited to one piece of software, and I don’t think good teaching should be either. I’ve taught using all the major DAWs, and my approach focuses on transferable skills so you’re never stuck relying on one specific program. I can teach using whatever software you already use or prefer.
What ages do you teach?
I teach students of all ages, from young learners through to adults. If you’re booking on behalf of a child, just mention their age when you get in touch so we can make sure everything’s set up appropriately.
Do you have experience with SEND students?
Yes. Take a look at my SEND Support page for more on how I adapt lessons.
How do lessons work? Is it a set course, or based on what I want to learn?
Every student is different, so lessons are built around your goals. That might mean finishing a specific track, learning a skill like mixing or songwriting from scratch, or working toward something bigger like a portfolio.
What happens in the free Soundcheck session?
It’s a free 30 minute, no obligation chat where I listen to your song or idea at any stage, help pinpoint what’s not working, and map out next steps. There’s no pressure to book anything afterwards.
How much do lessons cost?
Head over to the Pricing page for the full breakdown, whether that’s pay as you go or a discounted monthly package if you’re learning regularly.
What’s your cancellation policy?
I need at least 24 hours notice to reschedule a session free of charge. As a small business, last minute cancellations genuinely affect my earnings. Lesson packs and individual sessions are non-refundable too. Once you’ve booked a slot, I’ve turned other students away for that time, so I’m not able to fill a refunded session afterwards.
How do I pay?
Payment is made by bank transfer. Once you’ve had your free Soundcheck consultation and we’ve chatted through how you’d like to work together, you’ll be invited to sign up. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive an invoice, and your lesson slot is confirmed once it’s paid. That payment tops up your account balance, and once it reaches £0, you can request more sessions and a new invoice will be sent over.
